Apollo in the Spotlight: Fadi Hijazi

For the newest edition of our Apollo member interview, we talked to Fadi Hijazi from Beirut, Lebanon. We discussed his challenging logistics journey so far, why efficient communication is key and how continuous staff training is important for client satisfaction.

The logistics industry has always fascinated me since it plays a vital role in the global economy.
My journey so far has been challenging. It all started when I pursued a degree in logistics and supply
chain, I became immediately attracted to the complexity of this field. I then decided to take roles as an intern and work next to professionals in the field, which gave me a strong foundation for my career.

After accomplishing 2 internships and working part time at one of the leading banks in Lebanon in the
Trade finance department, I applied to one of the most reputable freight forwarding companies (Lamare Logistics) and got the job. Since then I learned a lot working next to people with more than 20 years of experience in the industry.

What is the most important lesson working in logistics has taught you?

Working in logistics has taught me various lessons that have shaped my understanding of this field as well as my approach to problem solving.

Communication is the key. Effective communication in a fast-paced and complex environment in logistics is crucial for the effective flow of services and enhances responsiveness to client needs, improve operational efficiency and builds strong relationships between parties. Lack of communication leads to delays, errors and operational inefficiency. Inadequate information sharing and poor coordination leads to client dissatisfaction.

What do you like most about the industry and your job in particular?

As someone who has been working a couple of years in this field, I can say that I appreciate many aspects of it. First is the dynamic nature of my job, every day brings new challenges requiring constant adaptation and problem solving skills. No two days are ever the same, this variety keeps the work engaging and exciting.

Second is connecting people globally and working across international borders which means working with different cultures, languages and regulations and being able to adapt to a constantly changing environment and learning about different business practices.

How do you set yourself apart from your competitors?

In today’s rapid changing environment, it is essential for organizations to ensure their staff are continuously trained and updated with the latest information and regulations.

All employees at our company employees undergo training programs several times a year which help us stay informed about the industry developments, new regulations, improve performance and acquire new skills which in the end all lead to a successful business with a good reputation.

In addition, having a network of powerful agents makes a big difference. These agents act as extensions to our company, helping to coordinate and facilitate the movement of services we provide, providing us insights of local regulations, customs procedures and logistical challenges that may arise during the shipping process. This helps us navigate complex shipments and avoid errors.

Thank you, Fadi!
