Apollo in the Spotlight: Bongani Ngulele

For the latest edition of our Apollo member interview series, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Bongani Ngulele from Johannesburg, South Africa. Bongani shared valuable insights on the pivotal role transparent communication plays in logistics, the challenges and rewards of the industry, and how building stronger partnerships can make all the difference in overcoming these hurdles. How did you get started in the logistics industry and what has your journey been like so far?

I started in 2006 in a learnership program and the journey has been great because of steady growth in the industry.

What do you like most about the industry and your job in particular?

The handling of medicaments need careful planning and fast expedition because of the timing behind it, and also ensuring it arrives at destination as soon as possible whilst temperature is controlled in transit. We had this recent shipment which was a RIT shipment from Lesotho to Brasil.

If there is one thing that you could change to the logistics industry, what would it be and why?

With growing numbers and shipments worldwide, I would make them all inter-link and connect for better collaboration between all stakeholders involved.

What is the most important lesson working in logistics has taught you?

Always communicate with partners and clients so that everyone is up to date, even if it is bad news.


What do you like most about the industry and your job in particular?

I like the fact that the industry and the jobs are challenging and very crucial to the economy, so as a logistics company it makes us feel great when we help clients with the problems and make their business move forward.

How do you set yourself apart from your competitors?

We go all out to give our customers a better experience.

What do you like the most about being a member of our logistics network?

I like the fact that it is stable and has stronger partners whom we want to associate ourselves with and have better opportunities and benefits.

How do you relax in your free time?

I relax by playing chess online and listening to Music.
