Swiss WorldCargo Joins Forces with Lufthansa and United Cargo: Expanding Horizons Together

Strength in Numbers, Flexibility in Reach
Swiss WorldCargo has officially joined the transatlantic joint business agreement between Lufthansa Cargo and United Cargo, creating a powerhouse partnership that will redefine air cargo connectivity. Starting August 1, 2025, this collaboration will unlock access to over 200 U.S. destinations via Zurich, complementing the existing Frankfurt services.

The original partnership between Lufthansa Cargo and United Cargo, launched in 2018 after three years of negotiations, has already proven its value through shared sales strategies, customer engagement, and network expansion. Now, with Swiss WorldCargo joining the fold, the alliance is set to deliver even greater benefits to customers.

Enhanced Connectivity, Seamless Experience
This expanded partnership promises to elevate customer value by offering enhanced connectivity, coordinated services, and a seamless cargo experience across the transatlantic network. All activities will strictly adhere to European Union and U.S. competition regulations, ensuring compliance at every step.

Alain Chisari, Head of Swiss WorldCargo, shared his enthusiasm:
“We are thrilled to join the joint business agreement with Lufthansa Cargo and United Cargo. This milestone strengthens our collaboration, broadens our global network, and enhances flexibility for our customers. It underscores our commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable, and efficient air cargo solutions worldwide.”

Synergies That Drive Growth
Ashwin Bhat, CEO of Lufthansa Cargo, highlighted the strategic advantages:
“Swiss WorldCargo’s entry into our joint venture with United Cargo is a significant step forward. Customers will benefit from a denser network, seamless booking options, and greater reliability. This collaboration enhances service quality and positions us for sustainable growth in a competitive market.”

Shared Values, Shared Success
Jan Krems, President of United Cargo, emphasized the alignment of values and vision:
“We’re proud to welcome Swiss WorldCargo into our transatlantic joint venture. Together, we’re creating a more seamless experience for customers by coordinating schedules, aligning handling processes, and streamlining booking and tracking systems. This partnership strengthens our ability to meet growing demand and deliver smarter, more efficient solutions across the air cargo supply chain.”

A Growing Alliance
This partnership extends beyond three carriers. The belly capacities of Brussels Airlines and Austrian Airlines, managed under the Lufthansa Cargo code, are already part of the network. Talks are underway to integrate ITA Airways, in which Lufthansa Group holds a 41% stake, into the fold. Once finalized, this alliance will evolve from a trio to a sextet, further solidifying its position as a leader in the air cargo industry.

With shared expertise, complementary networks, and a unified vision, Swiss WorldCargo, Lufthansa Cargo, and United Cargo are setting a new standard for transatlantic air cargo services.
