Apollo in the Spotlight: Emmanuel Apotae-Manu

For our newest Apollo interview, we sat down with Emmanuel Apotae-Manu from Tema, Ghana. We talked about his extensive experience in the industry and the importance of specialized logistics professionals.

How did you get started in the logistics industry and what has your journey been like so far?

I started as a shipping coordinator at P&N Nedlloyd after school and later joined Maersk Line. I later moved to handle Logistics operations for Schlumberger in Ghana and Ivory Coast, where I started developing my core Logistics career. After three years with Schlumberger, I joined DHL Global Forwarding and worked there for eight years. It was at DHL that I learnt the various aspects of Logistics comprising, International Freight management, Customer Centricity, Excellent Service delivery, Efficient customs service, etc. The journey has been awesome and now we have been able to develop a formidable Logistics Company.

What do you like most about the industry and your job in particular?

I like the solution we offer to businesses who may not have the right expertise in the logistics business. I am always excited when we exceed customers’ expectations with excellent service delivery.

If there is one thing that you could change to the logistics industry, what would it be and why?

I would recommend customers to stop setting up Logistics divisions in their organizations and allow professional logisticians to manage their logistics operations. This will enable them to focus on their core business. Also, professional Logisticians can identify various areas for efficiency, cost reduction and compliant ways of managing logistics operations.

What do you like the most about being a member of our logistics network?

The ability to move shipments from any part of the world, regardless of the choice of Incoterms between the seller and the buyer.

How do you set yourself apart from your competitors?

Offering highly customer-centric service delivery with competitive pricing to customers. Offering Logistics education to customers which involve changes in customs requirement, international shipping and regulatory process, and changes in Incoterms.

How do you relax in your free time?

Play with my family, watch movies, and read.
