Air France KLM Cargo reported a solid performance in Q2, with cargo revenues rising 3.6% year-on-year to €565m, despite extended maintenance on one of its freighters. Cargo traffic increased by 1.1% to 1.6bn revenue tonne kilometers (RTK), while capacity grew 1.4% to 3.6bn available tonne kilometers (ATK). Revenue per ATK improved by 1%, though the load factor dipped slightly by 0.1 percentage points to 45.5%.
The group noted that full freighter capacity remained stable at 45.5%, despite maintenance challenges. Traffic growth, while slightly trailing capacity expansion, kept the load factor steady. This performance follows last year’s IT system rollout at Paris CDG and KLM’s recent system upgrade in June.
For context, IAG Group saw a 1.6% rise in cargo traffic and a 9.9% revenue increase in Q2, while Lufthansa’s logistics division reported a 3% revenue boost and 6.6% traffic growth. Market conditions remain volatile, influenced by fluctuating US tariffs and economic uncertainty, which have driven rounds of front-loading and sustained elevated airfreight rates.
