Moving a massive 50-ton industrial furnace measuring over 19 meters in length and traveling more than 9,000 kilometers from Bilbao, Spain, to San Luis Potosí, Mexico, was far from routine. This oversized cargo demanded not only strength but meticulous planning, flawless coordination, and anticipation of every detail.
Thanks to our close partnership with our trusted collaborator in Spain, the cargo was loaded safely and stayed on schedule despite its impressive size and complexity.
At the Port of Bilbao, we secured a dedicated terminal slot and scheduled the lift during early morning hours to guarantee optimal conditions and availability of high-capacity cranes. Given the furnace’s dimensions (19.35 m x 3.22 m x 3.22 m) which exceeded standard container limits, we chose a breakbulk vessel offering exclusive onboard space to avoid interference with other shipments.
To ensure stability throughout the sea transit, we developed a tailor-made lashing and stowage plan that minimized any risk of movement or damage.
While the vessel crossed the Atlantic, our team coordinated closely with the consignee and customs broker in Mexico to secure all necessary permits in advance. This proactive approach allowed for immediate customs clearance upon arrival at the Port of Altamira.
Our pre-approved inland transport, a reinforced lowboy trailer with custom extensions, was ready to move the cargo the moment it was released. Following a route authorized by local authorities, the furnace completed its journey to San Luis Potosí smoothly, arriving safely and on time.
At Racing Cargo, we don’t just move oversized cargo: we plan, anticipate, and deliver with precision.
